Roger (Rog) was a true gentleman and a wonderful man. He was born in 1946 in Bristol and spent his childhood and early working life in the South West. He moved to Sheffield in the mid-1980s, marrying his wife Lindsay in 1994. Roger touched so many lives - those of work colleagues, family and friends and to all he was the perfect gentleman, with so much 'time for people'. We all loved him dearly. His illness was short, his diagnosis of terminal cancer coming in September. He received care at home , at Weston Park Hospital and his final day was at St Luke's hospice in Dore where he, Lindsay and close friends received wonderful care to make his passing peaceful and without anxiety. It is our wish that St Lukes receive any donations you may wish to make to celebrate Roger's life. This may be done via this tribute page, or please simply leave your thoughts about and memories of Rog.

I first met Roger when he tirelessly awaited Lindsay to 'chauffeur' her home at the end of a long working day, little knowing I would be working for him at a later date & for a number of years to his retirement in 2004. Always the gentleman and a great b

I worked with Roger more than ten years ago and still remember him fondly. An 'old school' civil servant who put people first, supporting and encouraging all his team, interested in them and their families. He always had time for a laugh and a chat, often

Meeting in London over-ran (again!), Lindsay on a much later train back to Sheffield. Waiting at the station to take her home is Roger, not in the least put out by the disruption to his evening, just really pleased to see Lindsay and help ease her journey

A much loved friend and holiday companion for many years. Many fun filled moments and wonderful memories. A perfect gentleman with style and panache. Will be sadly missed by us both, Chris and Tony.

I didn't work with Roger for a long period, couple of years or so, but he did leave a lasting impression on me. He was a man who took great pleasure in the finer things in life like a good dinner with a nice sparkling wine followed by a good quality single malt. Roger always had a ready smile and a good word for the people he knew.
