Nigel (Nidge to his old mates) was a wonderful husband, a devoted father, an adored Grandad, part-time rock god and all round good guy.
Nigel was a natural performer - whether this was playing with Fixer, presenting to customers, or modelling his latest outfit, which was bound to include a hat. He was entertaining friends and family right to the end.
His perfect day would be spent cycling along the canal path on folding bikes with Julie, spending time with Poppy, James, Autumn, Willow and the extended family, then taking his bass to a jam in the evening.
Out of the blue, he was diagnosed with cancer in May, but responded brilliantly to chemo and had high hopes for the future. Sadly the cancer came back with a vengeance at the end of August and he died peacefully on 10th September, at home, like he wanted, thanks to the St Luke's team.
We are so grateful to all the friends, family and medical staff who allowed him to enjoy his last summer.
In his memory, we would be grateful for donations to St Luke's hospice. The team of counsellors and nurses supported us in so many ways in the last weeks and days of his life.
