Laura was my friend and colleague. She was brave, beautiful, kind and generous. Above all she loved and was loved. Throughout Laura’s illness, I baked her a weekly loaf of bread. It was a small, practical act of love both in the giving and receiving that gave me purpose amid the enormity of Laura’s cancer, and gave Laura some tasty toast when the chemo made her sick. In Laura’s memory I am embarking on a year of making and giving a weekly loaf in return for a donation to St Luke’s, where she spent her final few weeks and was so kindly cared for. It’s a project called Laura’s Loaf in honour of my wonderful friend.

I was absolutely devastated to hear this news. I am just one of the many parents lucky enough to have had Laura supporting my children and have this wonderful human make such an impact on the lives of my family. Warm, supportive, beautiful, positive, kind, non judgmental, funny…. We were so scared for our children and their new diagnoses but Laura made you feel like it was all going to be ok….. and it was! …. My eldest is now a big tattooed 18 year old!!….and I’ve just talked to him about Laura and although he hadn’t seen her for a good few years…… of course, he remembers Laura!! Very Well!!…. He was very sad to hear this news too…..We all remember Laura and always will …. Laura, You are a credit to your profession, your community and I want to express my deepest sympathy and love to your family and thank them too for sharing you with every patient and especially all the children that were able to have Laura’s kindness, joy and sunshine bestowed upon them for even a small moment in time…… for these times will never be forgotten and we are forever grateful….. Rest in peace Laura x
