Diane Light
1955 - 2024 | Sheffield
During the final stages of Diane’s life with cancer the dedication of the St Luke’s nursing term ensured she was able to live her best life at home with expert and sensitive support whenever we needed it. She enjoyed a level of care which should be everyone’s right. Diane wanted her friends and family to help ensure this invaluable work continues for the benefit of the community she loved.

Gary and I were privileged to get to know Diane when she and David bought a house in Brinton, Norfolk. A truly fabulous lady who we will both miss dearly. So warm, positive, stylish (I so love their cottage) - For me, it was an instant friendship but I know that she was loved by all her Brinton friends and will be fondly remembered. Thank you St Lukes, for looking after Diane in her final days.

It was a privilege to know Diane. She was beautiful, stylish, intelligent and witty but never took herself too seriously. She was good humoured and great company and was a thoughtful and considerate friend. Her strength of character and determination to make the most of the time she had was humbling but typical. We loved Diane and will miss her very much.

I first met Diane when she came to teach at Carter Lodge in 1978. We very quickly became close friends, in part because of the similarities in our backgrounds but also because of our shared views on education. Diane was a wonderful friend and colleague whose kindness, generosity and loyalty were hallmarks of her personality. She had a great sense of humour and a keen intellect, but was always modest about her very considerable achievements. I am very proud to have been Diane's friend for 46 years. The world is a lesser place without her presence.

In memory of my beautiful, caring and compassionate cousin and dearest friend, who was always there for me. I loved Diane for many reasons, for her elegance and impeccable style, for her generosity and sense of humour and for being excellent company. Perhaps most of all I loved Diane for her courage and independence of mind and for knowing who she was. Diane would probably not have thought of herself as being inspirational but she certainly inspired me and to have been part of her life has been the greatest of all privileges.
