I created this on the anniversary of my brother's birthday, He would have been 63 years old.
Dave passed away at St Luke's hospice on the 12th of May 23. He was given such loving and tender care, by all the staff. He once said, ''They don't just care for me, they love me as well''. We both felt the love and care from the staff. So I have created this tribute and hope that you will consider a contribution to St Luke's, so that others may receive the same care that Dave had. St Luke's rely heavily on funding from the public, with only a small amount that comes from the NHS.
Bio
Dave grew up in Rotherham, attending the local school. He left school and became an apprentice Engineering Patternmaker, following in my father's footsteps. These skills of precision remained with him, he enjoyed wood turning and carpentry. In the late 80s Dave discovered a life long love and passion for photography, He gained a place at Glasgow school of arts and worked under the tutelage of his life long friend Thomas J Cooper. In later years he worked for Derbyshire County council, working with young children and teenagers, supporting them in difficult circumstances. Dave was passionate about life and shared this enthusiasm with the youngsters he worked with, encouraging and nurturing them.
Dave made friends wherever he went, he knew no stranger, he gained many friends from around the world, visiting many countries. On a trip to Iceland he met with Einar Sigurosson, a cave guide and explorer. They soon became close friends and Dave fell in love with Iceland, which led to an exhibition in Glasgow of his work. His photography will remain his legacy for many years to come. Dave will be missed not just by his friends, work colleagues, but by his sister Gale, Niece Ruth and brother in law John. If there is an afterlife, i hope he is in the company of my mother and father, may he rest in Peace.

I was so shocked and heartbroken to hear that Dave had passed. He was a lovely man and cared very much for me and my family during our time together. Such a gentle soul yet funny and courageous at the same time. Thankfully I have many fond and fun memories of Dave and he always said don't be sorry it ended, be happy it happened. Gayle - sorry we didn't meet but thought you'd enjoy these pictures of him, especially behind the lens. The hours I spent waiting for him to take 'the perfect shot'. Once a pupil, then a good friend, we had common interests, not only in photography, but also in great social injustices. I remember a fresh faced young man, and was shocked to learn of his death: I was deeply saddened by the news.

I went to school with Dave - I remember his cheeky smile from all those years ago. I was pleased to have made contact with Dave in recent years - he shared some of his amazing photography. Rest in peace my old friend.

I was very lucky to study alongside Dave at the Glasgow School of Art from 1989 to 1992. He was always gentle, kind, humorous and a very talented artist. I'm glad we got in touch again online. It was great to see his life post-art school, especially his Icelandic adventures and photography projects. I miss him very much. Big love.

I didn’t know Dave for very long, months only. But during the short time I knew him, he made such a lovely impression on me. A kind, caring, thoughtful man, who loved life and his family and friends.
