Val was living her life to the fullest. She stil worked, enjoyed holidays and spending time with her family. She liked to go shopping and grab a bargain! Her life was turned up side down when she got rushed into hospital and we found out she had a brain tumour. Not long after she had a stroke which then stopped any possible treatment available. Over months she got a little worst each day. She fought through every symptom and never moaned. We got in touch with St Luke's and they visited my Nannan regular. She was In a care home where myself felt she didn't receive the professional care she deserved and wasn't on the medication appropriate for her illness. St Luke's nurses noticed this and admitted her into the Sheffield hospice. As soon as we walked through them doors we was all made to feel at ease. We knew what was coming However they made it a nice place to be. They treated my Nannan like the queen and every person who had contact with her give her amazing care and spoke to her with so much respect. She sadly lost her life while in st Luke's hospice but I couldn't think of a better place for my Nannan to take her last breath. The care is amazing and myself and my family really feel we owe something to every single staff member at the hospice. Thank you so much!
