My lovely mum passed away on 13-05-17, too soon. She had a long struggle but was helped along the way by the St Lukes day therapy team, the inpatient team (staying for 6 weeks) and finally the community nurses who supported us in caring for her at home until her final day. Mum was fiercely proud of her family, especially her 4 grandchildren Sam, Sophie, Jessica and Matthew. She would have given anything to stay here with them and see them grow, but sadly this wasn't meant to be. I'm sure mum would find it fitting that we have chosen to support St Lukes via this tribute page as a way of saying thank you. Mum feared the words "St Lukes" initially, but the minute we managed to get her through the door she realised it wasn't what she feared. St Lukes is a place that offered us comfort, support but most of all, hope.

Very sad to hear Irene has passed, she and I shared some great phone moments and I wish I could have met her in real-time, she will be very missed.

So sad to have to say goodbye to this inspirational lady. Mrs Darwin you are someone I've always looked up to. In you I saw the kind of mum/friend/person I wanted to be and for that i thank you. You will be sadly missed and never ever forgotten. God bless xxx
