When she first joined the team 7 years ago, Gill settled in straight away, being bubbly with the ability to get along with everyone in the team, never seeming down at all. She brought a mature and nurturing presence to the team, often taking other members of the team ‘under her wing’. We learnt working with Gill to never judge a book by a cover as looking at Gill you would see a smartly dressed woman in her 60’s. However, it turns out that Gill was quite the ‘rock chick’ at the weekend, regularly enjoying live music events such as ‘Music in the Gardens’ at the Botanical Gardens and she loved seeing bands such as The Everly Pregnant Brothers, The Eagles and even the Rolling Stones!!! She was extremely sociable, always the first one up on the dance-floor, never missing an after work event. One of the strongest memories we have is of Gill is her mobile phone ringtone and we can honestly say that not a single one of us will ever hear ‘Brown Eyed Girl’ again and not immediately think of Gill and us all ‘bopping’ along in the office every-time someone called Gill! Gill we will miss your good humour, guidance, support but most of all your friendship. xxxxxxx

Whilst I didn't know Gill personally, she clearly had a profound impact on those around her. Thoughts are with Gill's SHU colleagues, friends and family during this difficult time x

I will always remember Gill as a caring and fun loving colleague and friend who always had time for a natter in and out of work. We put the world to rights over a drink many times over the years and I miss the laughter and the hugs. You will always be remembered Gill, love Silly Jilly xXx

I remember Gill as a cheerful colleague, but mainly as a friend and for her support when we were both undergoing treatment back in 2015. She was a great help and was always cheerful even if she was suffering side effects from her treatment. We met up at times when we were both off work during that time and helped each other through the difficult times and always kept in touch through text messages. She will always be remembered with great fondness, both in and out of work. xxx
