For my beautiful big sister will all our love
I remember the day Eva was born and my first visit to see her. I was 8 years old and an auntie! I was pleased to hear her middle name was Diane as at the time it was my favourite name and had already given it to my pot doll. The following years I saw much of her as we lived close by. She grew to be bright and intelligent and at 14 years old was my chief bridesmaid. On the big day, she returned from the hairdressers with the ‘style of the day,’ though we laughed years later as she claimed she ‘had horns and looked like The Queen!’ True!! Another memory is of her attending her sister Julie’s Christening where she ‘helped herself’ to the proceeds of the collection box on the way out. In her innocence she believed that’s what people were doing when donating, but thankfully she didn’t escape! As with all my nephews and nieces, I loved her, but over the years we had less contact due to house moves and wherever life took us. Eva had more than her share of mis-fortune, yet I’ve never heard her complain or show self pity, despite her suffering through the last years of her life. She cared for her mum throughout her own battle and I was in awe of her courage. Along with my thoughts of Eva, I can’t fail to mention her sisters Julie & Dawn. They have been a close threesome, and have beyond loved and cared for their ‘big sister.’ All three are a credit to their parents and I feel proud of them. ❤️
