Carol Lofthouse
1944 - 2014 | Sheffield
A much loved Mum, Grandmother, Sister and Wife, as well as a great friend to many... Carol spent her last few days in St Luke's Hospice, Sheffield, following an 18 month fight with cancer. We have set up this tribute page to honour her memory and allow others to receive the same loving care that Carol received during her last few days. All donations will go to St. Luke's. Please upload your own thoughts and photos to this web page, to help provide a lasting tribute. If you have any problems trying to upload pictures or thoughts, or trying to donate to St Luke's then please feel free to contact James Lofthouse at james.lofthouse@me.com

As an auntie Carol was a great inspiration to me in terms of what you can achieve in life. There are no boundaries. She hiked, cycled, helped the less fortunate with walks and even played Ice Hockey! As a young boy I had so much fun with Carol and the boys I chose to support Sheffield Wednesday! Strange for a boy living down South but that is testament to Carol's warm, kind and fun nature. She was and still is a great ambassador for Sheffield and what a special city it is. She used to send me weekly newspaper clippings of all things Sheffield Wednesday and lots of other memorabilia. As a child I always looked forward to receiving her weekly parcel! It was such a kind thing to do as she knew I was such a massive Owls fan. Carol was always so fun to be around and had a great sense of humour. Which she always encouraged in me! I will truly miss her but I know she has touched many lives for the better including mine. I am training to run a half marathon and I know it will be hard but Carol's strength and determination will pull me through. Carol you will never be forgotten. Love Baby Michael xx

I have many fond memories of time spent with Carol and our families. I will miss her very much and feel very lucky to have had her as an aunt. In the words of my daughter, Isla 'I just wish she could have stayed a bit longer.'

Carol will be forever in our hearts and our memories. When we were younger our families enjoyed Christmases and summer holidays together. And in more recent years, Carol joined mine and my sister's hen dos, and we enjoyed spa days and afternoon teas with Carol, my Mum and sister. We will miss her loads xx

Many thanks to all who attended Carol's funeral on Monday and were able to join in our daffodil tribute to her. Carol would have loved to have seen the human 'Host of Golden Daffodils' along with the forsythia, red roses and real daffodils that decorated the chapel, bringing a note of cheer to an otherwise sad occasion. Your generous donations have enabled us to send over £100 to Marie Curie Cancer Care.

I will miss my big sister very much but will remember all the happy times we have had over my lifetime, and especially over the last 10 years when she visited us at our holiday house in France many times, and learnt French to boot! Always caring, thoughtful and supportive to all my family.
