It is with great regret to have to inform all our patients that Dr Barbara Sloan of the Sloan medical centre passed away this morning (23.11.23) after a short illness. Staff at Sloan Medical Centre deeply mourn Barbara's passing and send our love to her family. Barbara worked for over 40 years as a doctor and showed personal commitment and dedication to all her patients particularly in Meersbrook, she touched so many with her kindness and knowledge, she will be enormously missed by the community that she served. A book of remembrance will be available between 24 November - 1 December at the main site.

Dr Barbara was my first GP when I arrived in Sheffield as a young student 40 years ago. She was instrumental in diagnosing a health condition in my mid twenties and helped me navigate the impact at key points throughout my life, with care, commitment and immense warmth and kindness. I will miss her greatly and will remember her with much fondness. Thank you Dr Barbara for all you have done for me and my family over all these years. May you rest in peace x

Thoughts
Dr Barbara Sloan , was one of one of best doctors i ever known. Barbara was like her father in every way. Albert Sloan , who was my doctor when I was a child . I have known Barbara in all , 70 years. She was such a caring lady , Nothing was too much trouble. I am so saddened, to hear she, has passed away. Rest on peace Barbara, you are now reunited with with your mother ( Dr King ) & your father, Albert Sloan 💔😭

Dr Barbara was so very kind to me after the birth of both my children. Her phone calls were a little lifeline, and she was always understanding, professional and, above all, kind. Sending love to her family friends, please know she touched so many lives - and will not be forgotten by her patients.

Barbara was there for me and my 2 babies postnatally - one of which was during lockdown. She was a great GP, so warm and always felt cared for when seeing her. Such a great advocate for women's health who I'm sure will be missed my many in the local community. RIP

Barbara was my GP for about 15 years, she saw me through the difficult times of having long term health conditions and having children, she picked me up when my first child died prematurely at 24 weeks and told me I was amazing for carrying on , she was the first one I told I was pregnant with my other two children and supported me through. She was one of the kindest knowledgeable doctors I have ever seen. I have so many memories all good. RIP Barbara x
