Anita was a wonderful person who will be so missed by her husband David, her sons Jonathan and Chris, grandson Alfie, sister Marcia, brothers Tony and Martin, nephews and nieces, all other family and her many, many friends. She was such a kind, selfless, caring and compassionate lady with a happy face that touched everyone she met. Anita worked at the Children’s Hospital for nearly 30 years before retiring in 2016 and is fondly remembered by her ex colleagues. She enjoyed living her life and has given her family and friends many treasured memories. She still had so much to look forward to but was diagnosed with cancer in 2022. Anita managed her illness with great strength and dignity and was determined not to let it get her down. She was initially cared for at home and received tremendous support from family, friends, NHS and St Luke’s and spent her last days as an inpatient in St Luke’s, where she passed peacefully on 22 March. She will be forever in our thoughts.

I will forever feel privileged to have been blessed and lucky to have had Anita in my life. For me, Anita was an inspiration a confident and someone who I will always strive to be like. She touched me and as such a light was lit. I will never forget her and that light will burn always. I thank her for all that she was and for being my wonderful friend. Anita was a wonderful person with a great sense of humour and a love of banter. With not being a member of the litter pickers, book club or the Hospital my memories of Anita are as a couple with David. The beer trails, coach trips, railway trips, singing at the Christmas lunches, walks in the Peak district, visits to the country pubs and that fabulous day at the cottage in Castleton. Anita was always bubbley! She made me laugh from the first time I met her. While out litter picking in her fabulous pink high vis vest I went over to introduce myself. There was also another lovely lady whom name escapes me. Anita helped out on Fox Hill Litter pickers a few times. I first knew Anita when she was 11 years old and have many memories to treasure of happy times. Anita, you were a very special lady, kind, caring and fun, and always thinking of and looking after others - family and friends. We have many memories shared being part of the weekender ladies , starting in Centre Parcs and moving onto beautiful Yorkshire . I/we would like to express our deepest sadness at the passing of Anita. I first knew her many years ago whilst we were both working at Sheffield Children's Hospital. Our paths met again when at the start of COVID Anita approach the surgery, she was a patient, to see if she could volunteer her services. This offer was greatly appreciated and readily accepted and Anita soon became an integral part of the surgery's COVID Vaccination Team ! She was our meet and greet angel - calming patients down on arrival and ensuring the smooth running of many of the busy clinics. Anita I was truly blessed to have you as a friend. I loved your kind nature, your love for life, your love for your beautiful family and the generosity you shared with people less fortunate than yourself. Your sense of humour was infectious. I'd love it when you'd ring and say shall we go for a cheeky afternoon drink which invariably led to quite a few cheeky drinks!!! The holidays, parties, days out will never be forgotten. Anita was the most selfless, caring, fun loving, inspiring and thoughtful person. She enhanced the life of anyone fortunate enough to meet her, with Anita others always came first. The dignified and courageous way she dealt with her last few months was just Anita, still only thinking of others right until the end of her life. I will always remember our working years together. You were supportive of me, you helped me when i needed someone, you gave me sound career advice. You were a mother figure in so many ways of the word. You worked so hard and were so inspiring to me. So many people say currently if you can be anything be kind-that was you, always professional, always kind. I try everyday to mirror your working ethos. We became friends, so many conversations on my way home we sounded out the day to one another you’d be thinking of getting your vodka and soda in a tall glass, bought you a glass just for the occassion. We have shared so many good times, parties, day trips away, weekends away, laughing till we cried, dancing till our feet couldnt take it anymore. So happy to have all of those moments in my memory. I will miss you, i have loved to see your adventures these last few years you really did make the most of the time you had with your family. Always in touch asking about me and my boys, always there, a friend i had even if we didnt speak all the time. The most special kind of friend.
